Best Anime Recommendations — Every Genre, Personally Picked

I started BakaBuzz because I was tired of anime recommendation sites that all said the same things. Every “best anime” list had the same 10 shows, the same vague descriptions, and zero personality. This is my answer to that.

I’ve watched over 1,000 anime series. Everything on this page is something I’ve personally watched and have a genuine opinion about. I’ll tell you who it’s for, who should skip it, and which episode to judge it on.

Where to Start

If you’re new to anime or want to restart after a long break — these five are the best entry points regardless of what you normally watch:

  1. Attack on Titan — Watch seasons 1-4. The best-plotted anime of the 2010s.
  2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood — The most complete anime story ever told. 64 episodes, zero filler.
  3. Demon Slayer — Best animation in shonen history. Emotional family story underneath the spectacle.
  4. Your Lie in April — If you want something that isn’t action. Music and grief. Devastating.
  5. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End — The best recent anime. Slow, beautiful, and unlike anything else.

What I Think Is Overrated

Since we’re being honest: Sword Art Online — good premise, wastes it after episode 14. Tokyo Ghoul — Season 1 is excellent, everything after is a disaster. Black Clover — Asta’s screaming is an unforgivable directorial choice in the first 30 episodes. It does get better. Fairy Tail — Nakama power used as a substitute for actual stakes.

Strong opinions. Come disagree.
