5. Darling in the FranXX
In the world of Darling in the FranXX Anime Series, giant creatures known as Klaxosaurs wreak havoc and almost try to put an end to mankind.
Although sounding like a Crocs-approved dinosaur, these things are very dangerous. And soon, humans will be driven into hardened settlements.
Humanity’s only protection is giant mecha suits propelled by fan service. Okay, not yet, but quite.
Boy/girl units command the mechas in perilous positions, fighting off Klaxosaurs while eventually learning about their environment and themselves.
Don’t stress if that sounds too tame for you. Anything goes out the window in the second installment of the season, and the size expands dramatically.
4. Somali and the Forest Spirit
I’m sure the last thing you wanted to see on this anime list was any healthy stuff, but here it is.
Somali and the Forest Spirit is an anime that takes place in a world where humans are disliked, In reality, they are close to their end and on the verge of extinction.
Therefore, our heroine, a sad little girl, faces a difficult path. Fortunately, she encounters a gentle golem who decides to protect her and serve as a father figure.
So, if you ignore the entire mass extinction thing, this show is honestly very wholesome and cozy as hell.
3. Berserk
If we’re talking about those dystopia-themed anime series, I can’t think of about a more bleak and tragic setting than Berserk.
Even if only the Golden Age arc has been animated in a manner that doesn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out, the other series and movies give us a clear understanding of the darkness that surrounds Guts’ world.
Especially the third movie. Discuss gore, betrayal, and nµdity. It’s no surprise that it was first published and aiming adult fans.
So, if you want to see a completely messed-up universe, start with the Golden Age films and then move on to the anime and manga series. And then immediately go to a psychiatrist or whatever.
2. Gurren Lagann
Coming at number 2 of the best anime series about the end of the world, we have an amazing apocalyptic tv show as powerful and radical as its theme.
The series chronicles the story of doomed Earth and individuals who have been oppressed by outsider animals called the Beastmen. People are compelled to live underground until an inquisitive kid named Simon uncovered a mech alongside his received more established sibling Kamina.
Both of them defy the Beastmen and recover Earth in the most idealistic and shonen way that an anime could offer, essentially switching their post-end of the world status. Trust us when we say that nobody can appreciate the degree of magnificence this apocalyptical anime has to offer.
1. Attack On Titan
WIT Studio’s first anime turned out to be their biggest success. Attack On Titan is an anime about both the end of the world and deathblow that awaits humanity.
The series took the world by surprise and became a cult classic, catching the hearts of not just anime lovers, but also non-anime fans.
Attack On Titan is an exciting action sequence with stunning animation and a rousing soundtrack. There are certain intriguing aspects as well, such as snooping out traitors and determining the identity of those titans.
Attack On Titan doesn’t hold back when it comes to the titans’ gruesome death scenes, and the deaths get more brutal as this bloody action series progresses. If you haven’t seen Attack On Titan yet, do yourself a favor and do so as soon as possible.
