The much-anticipated anime adaptation, Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!), is set to premiere on January 10, 2025. Fans can catch the first episode on the Super Animeism Turbo programming block across 28 MBS/TBS-affiliated stations in Japan. This hilarious and heartwarming series brings a fresh twist to the isekai and otome game genres.
The narrative follows Kenzaburo Tondabayashi, a 52-year-old civil servant who finds himself reincarnated as Grace Auvergne, the antagonist in the otome game “Magical School Love & Beast.” Despite his efforts to embody the villainess role, his paternal instincts lead him to make kind remarks, adding a unique twist to the storyline.
The anime is produced by Ajia-do Animation Works, with Tetsuya Takeuchi directing and Shingo Irie handling series composition. Character designs are by Haruka Matsunae, and the music composition team includes Natsumi Tabuchi, Misaki Tsuchida, Tsugumi Tanaka, Reiko Abe, and Kaho Sawada.
Kazuhiko Inoue voices Kenzaburo Tondabayashi, while M.A.O portrays Grace Auvergne. Additional cast members include Akira Sekine as Anna Doll, Yuichiro Umehara as Richard Verseau, Kaito Ishikawa as Virgile Vierge, and Aoi Koga as Lucas Vierge.
For international audiences, Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for streaming on HIDIVE in North America. In South and Southeast Asia, Muse Communication holds the licensing rights.
In anticipation of the premiere, the official TikTok account for the anime launched on January 6, 2025, where excerpts from the latest episodes will be posted. Additionally, “The Villainess Radio Uncle,” a radio show hosted by Kazuhiko Inoue and M.A.O, will begin broadcasting on January 9, airing every Thursday at 7 p.m. on Nippon Cultural Broadcasting’s internet radio show “Cho! A&G+.”
A special program featuring cast members Inoue, M.A.O, and Akira Sekine is scheduled to stream live on the ABEMA anime channel at 9 p.m. on January 8. The program will delve into the highlights of the series and explore the appeal of its characters.
