New Fantasy Anime The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Premieres in July, and Early Access on ABEMA!
The anime adaptation of Ryosuke Haneda and Anajiro’s fantasy manga, Maou gun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army), premieres this July! Fans can catch the series a week ahead of its official broadcast on streaming platform ABEMA starting June 26th. ABEMA will also offer unlimited viewing of the series.
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army) will be Produced by Studio A-Cat, the series boasts a talented team with Norihiko Nagahama directing, Touko Machida writing the scripts, Masami Sueoka designing the characters, and Kohta Yamamoto composing the music.
We can expect the series to air on Tokyo MX and BS Asahi starting in July 2024. The opening theme song, “Ctrl C”, is performed by Kohta Yamamoto featuring Shun Ikegai.

Maou-gun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human) follows Ike, known as the “strongest magician in the Maou Army.” Ike is a demon who can capture a fort on his own and defeat enemies with powerful magic, earning admiration from both friends and foes. However, he hides a big secret: he is actually human. Using modern knowledge to maintain his disguise, Ike rises to become a great commander and a key force in the Demon Lord’s army.
The Maou Gun anime series will features several characters: Ike (voiced by Jun Fukuyama), the adopted grandson of Romberg, who hides his human identity with a hood and mask and is renowned for his magical powers; Satie (voiced by Hina Tachibana), Ike’s human maid who discovers his true identity and develops feelings for him; Cefiro (voiced by Shizuka Itō), a sorceress in the Demon army who helps keep Ike’s secret and enjoys teasing him; Dairokuten (voiced by Manaka Iwami), the Demon Lord who seeks peaceful tactics and trusts Ike to help achieve coexistence between humans and demons; Lilith (voiced by Azumi Waki); Jiron (voiced by Kentaro Tone); Alistair (voiced by Manatsu Murakami), a female knight saved by Ike from execution; Fiorentina (voiced by Yumi Uchiyama); and Romberg (voiced by Chō).
The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human is a Japanese light novel series by Ryousuke Hata, with illustrations by Kuma. It started online in February 2016 on the site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Later, Futabasha picked it up and published five volumes between September 2016 and April 2018 under their Monster Bunko label. A manga version, drawn by Anajiro, has been available online on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website since July 2019 and has been collected into ten volumes.
