A brand new preview video for the TV anime The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, adapted from Yoshi Azuma Sawayoshi’s original work, is now out! The anime staff also unveiled Kaori Ishihara’s ending theme song “Gift” featured in the video.
This new anime adaptation, titled The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil (Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru), was announced in the June issue of Dengeki Maoh on April 26, 2023. Produced by Children’s Playground Entertainment in collaboration with Gaina, the series is set to premiere on January 9, 2024, on TV Tokyo and other networks. Itsuro Kawasaki will serve as the director and writer, Yūko Yahiro will handle the character designs, and Takurō Iga will compose the music. The opening theme, “Otowa” by Taiyō to Odore, Tsukiyo ni Utae, and the ending theme, “Gift” by Kaori Ishihara, will accompany the series. Crunchyroll has secured the licensing rights for the series outside of Asia.
The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil characters includes Masatora Akutsu, voiced by Taku Yashiro and Yuma Uchida, and Lily Amane, voiced by Kaede Hondo and Ayane Sakura. There’s also Yūya Tanigawa, Kensaku Hirota, Yuka Tanahashi, Liz, Shiromura, Joe, and Chum, each with their own style and voiced by talented voice actors.

The Foolish Angel Dances with the Demon tells a story about Heaven and Hell being in a war, and Hell is not doing so well. A demon named Masatora Akutsu comes to Earth, pretending to be a student. His mission is to find charming humans to help Hell and boost their spirits. However, he falls for a student named Lily Amane, who turns out to be an undercover angel with a tough side. She catches Masatora but decides to spare him, putting a collar on him to make him follow her commands. While he plans to break free, she aims to use him to make positive changes in Heaven. It’s a tale of twists and turns between Heaven, Hell, and the unexpected bond forming on Earth.
