The second trailer for the TV anime Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf has been released. Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf” is a new anime based on the light novels by Isuna Hasekura. It was revealed on February 25, 2022, as a special project for the novel’s 15th anniversary.

The upcoming Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf anime is in the works, will be produced by studio Passione and directed by Hijiri Sanpei. Takahashi will serve as the chief director, Kevin Penkin will handle the music, and Fukuyama and Koshimizu will return as the voices of Lawrence and Holo. The anime is scheduled to debut in April 2024 on TV Tokyo and other networks, with Crunchyroll securing the licensing rights.
Spice and Wolf is a captivating Japanese light novel series written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Jū Ayakura. It has been part of ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint since February 2006, with a total of 24 novels published so far. In addition, there’s a spin-off series called Wolf and Parchment, consisting of five volumes since September 2016.
The story also made its way into manga, starting in November 2007 in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Maoh magazine, and Yen Press is handling the English releases. The animated adaptations include a 12-episode season aired from January to March 2008, along with an original video animation (OVA) episode in May 2008. Another OVA, acting as a prequel to the second anime season Spice and Wolf II, was released in April 2009. The second season unfolded over 12 episodes from July to September 2009. Both seasons are available in English through Kadokawa Pictures USA and Funimation. For those who enjoy interactive experiences, there are two visual novels designed for the Nintendo DS, released by ASCII Media Works in June 2008 and September 2009. Now, the adventure continues with the upcoming anime series adaptation titled Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, set to premiere in April 2024.

As of October 2020, the light novel series has exceeded 5 million copies in sales, known for its unique approach to fantasy, focusing on economics, trade, and peddling instead of the usual fantasy elements like swords and magic. Yen Press is handling the licensing and English releases of the light novels in North America.
