A cool collaboration video has been released, mixing the opening theme “Onegai Muscle” from the anime Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? (How Many Kilograms of Dumbbells Can You Lift?) with scenes from the movie The Expendables 4.
This unique collaboration showcases the connection between these two works. The video kicks off with a scene where the Expendables, a tough army on a plane, faces a sudden bomb attack. Sylvester Stallone’s character, Barney Ross, stays calm and decides to enjoy some music, turning on the in-flight BGM. The light and catchy melody of “Onegai Muscle” starts playing, creating a fun and unexpected encounter between muscles that goes beyond the usual adult circumstances.
How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? It’s a cool Japanese manga series written by Yabako Sandrovich and illustrated by MAAM. The story follows Hibiki Sakura, a high school girl with a big appetite who decides to join the Silverman Gym after realizing she’s gaining weight. Her schoolmate, Akemi Soryuin, has similar thoughts. At the gym, they meet Naruzo Machio, a trainer, and Hibiki can’t help but fall for him. Now, motivated to get fit, Hibiki is determined to lose weight.
The manga has been serialized since 2016 and is available in nineteen volumes. On January 15, 2019, they announced an anime series for the show. Doga Kobo produced it, and Mitsue Yamazaki directed it. Fumihiko Shimo managed the story, Ai Kikuchi designed the characters, and Yukari Hashimoto composed the music. The series aired from July 3 to September 18, 2019, on various channels like AT-X, Tokyo MX, KBS, SUN, and more. It had 12 episodes.
The opening theme, “Onegai Muscle,” was performed by Hibiki Sakura (Fairouz Ai) and Naruzo Machio (Kaito Ishikawa), a song that is now used for a collaboration with the 2023 movie The Expendables 4. The ending theme, “Macho A Name?” was sung by Machio (Ishikawa). It’s a cool anime series about fitness worth checking out!
