Look Back is a Japanese web manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It’s about Ayumu Fujino, a talented elementary schooler who draws manga for her school’s paper. When another student named Kyomoto starts publishing her own manga and outshines Ayumu, Ayumu becomes obsessed with beating her. This obsession causes Ayumu to isolate herself from friends and family. Eventually, Ayumu discovers that Kyomoto is actually a fan of her work. They team up to create manga together and receive praise for their work. As teenagers, Ayumu gets the chance to serialize her manga, but Kyomoto chooses to pursue formal art education instead. Tragedy strikes when Kyomoto is caught in a mass murder at an art college. Feeling guilty for inspiring Kyomoto to pursue art, Ayumu tries to change the past, but ultimately realizes the impact her manga had on Kyomoto’s life. She decides to continue drawing manga, finding purpose in bringing joy to others through her art.
