The official character of Shibuya City Tourism Association, SHIBUYA♡HACHI, to star an anime tv series! It will air on TV Tokyo starting April.
Shibuya Hachi anime project celebrates the 100th anniversary of the loyal dog Hachiko, who symbolizes Shibuya Station. HACHI, the faithful companion, comes to life in modern Shibuya, enjoying daily adventures with cheerful friends.
After Hachiko’s passing, his remains were cremated and laid to rest beside his beloved master in Aoyama Cemetery, Tokyo. A taxidermy mount of Hachiko is on display at the National Science Museum of Japan. In Shibuya, a bronze statue of Hachiko stands at the station, serving as a popular meeting spot.
A similar statue exists in Hachiko’s hometown of Ōdate, with another erected in front of the Akita Dog Museum in 2004.
Every March 8th, people gather at Shibuya Station to honor Hachiko’s loyalty. His epic story has inspired books, films, and even video games, leaving a lasting impact on popular culture worldwide. From heartfelt children’s books to blockbuster films like “Hachiko Monogatari” and “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale,” his story of loyalty continues to all audiences of various backgrounds and ages.
