New visuals of the upcoming anime movie Haikyuu the Movie Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump has been unveiled, showcasing the nine main members of Karasuno High School’s boys’ volleyball team. The film, based on Haruichi Furudate’s ‘Haikyu!!,’ is set to premiere on February 16, 2024. Alongside the announcement, a trailer and teaser poster have been released.
The movie centers on the intense showdown between Karasuno High School and Nekoma High School, picking up from the events depicted in the fourth season of the TV anime, which showcased the battle against Inarizaki High School. Action-packed visuals feature key characters such as Shoyo Hinata, Tobio Kageyama, Kei Tsukishima, Tadashi Yamaguchi, Yu Nishitani, Ryunosuke Tanaka, Daichi Sawamura, Asahi Tomine, and Koushi Sugawara, highlighting the formidable offensive strength of Karasuno.
Alongside the release of ‘Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Garbage Dump,’ fans can also grab a special movie ticket package. This package includes a movie ticket along with various goodies. There are a total of 17 different movie tickets, each featuring a poster visual of one of the 17 players from Karasuno High School and Nekoma High School. Additionally, the package includes 2 types of clear cards, stickers, original visuals drawn by Furudate, and a mini-sheet called Mubichike. Haikyu!! is a Japanese manga series about volleyball, created by Haruichi Furudate. The story, which was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020, follows Shoyo Hinata. Despite being small, Hinata dreams of becoming a great volleyball player after being inspired by the ‘Little Giant’ and his amazing skills.
Hinata joins Karasuno High School, the same school as the Little Giant. He believes this brings him closer to his goal of becoming a pro volleyball player. However, his determination is tested when he discovers that Tobio Kageyama, the player who defeated Hinata’s middle school team, is now his teammate.
To succeed in the world of volleyball, where height and strength are often emphasized, Hinata must overcome differences with Kageyama. Learning the importance of teamwork becomes crucial for Hinata to compete at the top level.
An anime series based on Haikyuu, made by Production I.G, aired from April to September 2014 with 25 episodes. The second season, also with 25 episodes, ran from October 2015 to March 2016. The third season, consisting of 10 episodes, was shown from October to December 2016. The fourth season, announced during Jump Festa ’19, was released in two parts from January to December 2020, totaling 25 episodes. They’ve also announced a new movie series called Haikyu!! Final, which is meant to wrap up the entire story.
On August 13, 2022, they revealed two Haikyu!! Final movies as the series finale. The first one, called Gekijoban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump), is set to come out on February 16, 2024.
