10 Anime Like Isekai Cheat Magician

popping onto the screens in the Summer season of 2019 is the isekai title, Isekai Cheat Magician, an anime about high schoolers after whisking off to a fantasy world. The premise is not a brand new title for most of us,  as the isekai anime series is a genre with many exports every single year.

Enough about that, and more about anime like Isekai Cheat Magician!

here we go

1| Kenja no Mago (Wise Man’s Grandchild)

  • Studios:Silver Link.
  • Genres: Action, Comedy, Magic, Romance, Fantasy
  • Episodes: 12

Merlin Walford was once a national hero of the kingdom of Earlshide. He moves to the woods to lead a quiet life of seclusion to raise an orphan he saved. Shin, the reincarnation of a salaryman in Japan, made it to Merlin’s world with his memories intact. As he grows up, Shin exhibits incredible magical talent and develops excellent combat prowess. However, when he turns 15, it becomes painfully obvious that his social side has not been developed and he is an awkward mess lacking in common sense. Shin enrols in the Magic Academy in order to lead a normal teenage life and hone his skills; however, he is regarded as a celebrity almost immediately. As he experiences school life, he makes new friends, grows and combats evil.

Much like Isekai Cheat Magician, Kenja no Mago features a protagonist incarnating in another world and possessing incredible abilities. From that perspective, the two shows are incredibly similar, despite the fact that Kenja no Mago is about a protagonist who died before getting to the other world, while Isekai Cheat Magician features a protagonist-pairing who fall into the same situation through other means.

2| Isekai Wa Smartphone To Tomo Ni. (In Another World With My Smartphone)

  • Episodes: 12

The main protagonist finds himself in a fantasy world after death as an outcome of an accident from God. He decides to start his second life in this new world. His only belongings are his old body and smartphone that works fine in the fantasy world. When he meets many new individuals and forges new relationships, he gets to know the secret of the world. He inherits the memory of an ancient society and operates with the kings of several extremely laid-back nations on his carefree journeys in this new world.

3| Maou-sama, Retry! (Demon Lord, Retry!)

  • Studios: EKACHI EPILKA
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
  • Episodes: Unknown

Oono Akira is a Game Manager for Infinity Game. While logged in one day, Akira is transported to the world of the game and dons the body of his in-game persona, Demon Lord Kunai Hakuto. He then meets Aku, a girl with a troubled past and they begin travelling together; however, the incredible strength of the Demon Lord attracts many enemies and so Akira must thwart the attempts of entire countries looking to defeat the Demon Lord!

Much like Isekai Cheat Magician, Maou-sama, Retry! happens in a world that is fundamentally foreign to the main character. Both feature protagonists who are well-known for their incredible strength and have a desire to live a life with minimal drama. Both anime are centred on the journeys of a particular pair of characters who spend most of their time together.

4| Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody)

  • Studios: Silver Link., Connect
  • Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Harem
  • Episodes: 12

After a long tiring day, “Satou,” aka Ichiro Suzuki decides to take a nap only to wake up in another world. The only thing he sees was the menu screen of the game he was working on. On the screen, it shows that he’s at level 1. However, he also finds that he has three “Meteor Showers” which could use to level up. Suddenly, a whole group of lizardmen tries to attack him. To survive the attack, Satou uses Meteor Shower and his level jumps to 310. From there Satou’s journey begins in this new world.

5| Tsuujou Kougeki wa Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaa-san wa Suki Desu ka? (Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?)

  • Studios: J.C.Staff
  • Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
  • Episodes: 12

Masato’s life changes forever after he participates in a random survey at school one day. It turns out that the survey was a government scheme and as a result, Masato ends up being transported to the world of a video game. With his mother caught in the same situation, Masato ends up embarking on an adventure in a fantasy world with his mother and they make some friends along the way.

Both Okaa-san Online and Isekai Cheat Magician feature a pair of protagonists who have known each other for a significant amount of time. Both are also similar in how they are both isekai anime adapted from light novels, as well as in their fantasy setting. The difference here is the fact that Masato and his mother end up in the world of a video game while Rin and Taichi from Isekai Cheat Magician end up in a non-game alternate world.
