The Fire Hunter sacrifices himself to save Touko, sharing his dog’s name, Kanata, with her as his final words. Because Touko feels responsible for the Fire Hunter’s death, her village tasks her with taking Kanata and the fallen Fire Hunter’s belongings to the Capital and delivering them to his family. Resolved to fulfill her duty and make amends, Touko sets out on a challenging mission to the Capital.
