The anime Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi, also known as The Elusive Samurai, is scheduled to debut in 2024.

The Elusive Samurai tells the story of Tokiyuki Houjou, an eight-year-old boy who is supposed to become the next leader of the Kamakura shogunate. However, he’s not very good at anything except hide-and-seek. One day, everything changes when Takauji Ashikaga takes over the shogunate by force. Tokiyuki narrowly escapes with his life, helped by a priest who claims to see the future. Now, Tokiyuki must stay alive while gathering allies to help him reclaim his rightful position as leader of the Kamakura Shogunate. This anime is set in Japan’s Nanboku-chou period and follows Tokiyuki’s journey to redemption as he tries to change the course of history by running away.
The Elusive Samurai manga is created by Yusei Matsui and began in Weekly Shōnen Jump on January 25, 2021. Shueisha has published the chapters in tankōbon volumes, with the first one out on July 2, 2021. As of February 2, 2024, there are fourteen volumes available. Viz Media has the English license for the manga in North America and releases the chapters digitally on its Shonen Jump website as they come out in Japan.
