It is confirmed that Teasing Master Takagi-san live action movie is slated to premier on May 31, 2024! Mei Nagano and Fumiya Takahashi will play the roles of Takagi and Nishikata, playing them as adults in this exciting film.
Earlier, it was announced that Teasing Master Takagi-san will turn into a live-action drama and air on TBS’s late-night Drama Stream starting from March 2024. Ryu Tsukishima is set to portray Mr. Takagi, while Soya Kurokawa will take on the role of Nishikata.
After the success of the anime and manga series, the live-action adaptation captures the spirit of the 10-year series that just wrapped up in the November issue of Gessan (Shogakukan). Directed by Rikiya Imaizumi, the movie tells a new story, catching up with Takagi and Nishikata ten years after their middle school days. Mr. Takagi, now a teacher trainee, returns to his old school, and Nishikata becomes a physical education teacher. Filmed on Shodoshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture, the movie promises to bring back the same teasing fun that fans love.
Teasing Master Takagi-san, created by Sōichirō Yamamoto, is a Japanese manga series that began in June 2013 and concluded in October 2023. The manga follows Takagi’s daily life as she enjoys teasing her classmate Nishikata, who constantly tries but fails to outsmart her. The series, consisting of nineteen tankōbon volumes as of March 2023, originally started in Monthly Shōnen Sunday Mini and later moved to Monthly Shōnen Sunday.
The manga’s popularity led to an anime adaptation by Shin-Ei Animation, with seasons airing in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Additionally, an original video animation (OVA) and an animated film were released in 2018 and 2022, respectively. A television drama adaptation is scheduled for March 2024, and a live-action movie is set to premiere on May 31, 2024. In 2021, the series received the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category, and as of October 2023, it had over 12 million copies in circulation. The manga is licensed by Yen Press in North America.
