Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is an upcoming video game by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega, playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s the ninth installment in the Like a Dragon series and directly follows Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The game stars Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, taking players to Hawaii and familiar places in Japan. Kasuga and Kiryu unite to help Kasuga’s search for his mother in Hawaii, while Kiryu battles cancer. The game is set to launch globally on January 26, 2024.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a Japanese video game set in 2023, following two former yakuza members, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, on a new adventure in Yokohama and Honolulu.Kasuga heads to Hawaii to find his long-lost mother, Akane, believing she passed away years ago. Simultaneously, Kiryu is in Honolulu on a mission from the Daidoji faction, joining forces with Kasuga to protect Akane from local criminal groups. Along the way, Kasuga discovers Kiryu is battling cancer with an unknown life expectancy. The game features returning party members, new characters, and various supporting and antagonistic figures, offering a story of family, friendship, and confronting personal challenges.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, initially announced as Like a Dragon 8, was introduced in September 2022 during Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Summit livestream. The first trailer showcased Ichiban Kasuga and a strikingly redesigned Kazuma Kiryu. In early 2023, RGG Studio held a Cabaret Club Grand Prix, leading to VTuber Kson winning and appearing as the in-game character Kei. The second trailer at Xbox Games Showcase 2023 hinted at a new international setting. The Infinite Wealth subtitle was explained by Director Masayoshi Yokoyama, emphasizing story themes and distinguishing it from the Japanese version. In September 2023, RGG Studio’s second Summit livestream revealed story details, characters, and gameplay features through trailers. English voice cast additions included Danny Trejo, Daniel Dae Kim, and Debi Derryberry. A Chinese dub, a series first, was also announced. In October, Happy Resort Dondoko Island was unveiled, followed by a December trailer spotlighting the significant side activity, Bucket List, for Kiryu in Infinite Wealth.
