Kei Sugawara Shares “filled” Anime Ending Music Video for With You and the Rain

Singer-songwriter Kei Sugawara has officially unveiled the music video for her latest single, “filled,” which serves as the ending theme for the upcoming summer 2025 TV anime With You and the Rain. The music video is now streaming on Kei Sugawara’s official YouTube channel.

“filled”: Kei Sugawara’s First Anime Tie-In Song

The song “filled” marks a milestone in Kei Sugawara’s career as her first-ever theme song linked to an anime production. Known for her high-toned vocals and introspective songwriting, Sugawara not only composed and wrote the lyrics for the track, but also collaborated with music arranger Naoki Itai to bring out the gentle, warm tone expressed through the series.

In a special comment shared on her official platforms, Sugawara stated, “It is my favorite series in the first place, and I have been healed every day by the funny daily life of Fuji and Kimi, and the slightly moist air that was not too energetic. I’m really, really happy to be involved in such a beloved work.”

Her intent was to create a song that radiates the calm atmosphere of the anime’s seasonal storytelling, evoking the warmth of spring, summer, fall, and winter when shared with someone special. The soft melody and heartfelt lyrics of “filled” complement the emotional depth of the show’s themes.

Release Details for “filled”

“filled” was released digitally on July 4, 2025, and quickly garnered attention for its gentle composition and emotional resonance. It was later released as a physical CD single on July 30, marking Kei Sugawara’s first-ever CD release. Both the digital and CD single feature distinct cover art, each capturing the thematic essence of the song and its association with With You and the Rain.

The CD version of “filled” also includes a creditless version of the anime’s ending video, allowing fans to experience the visuals and music in their purest form.

About Kei Sugawara

Kei Sugawara began releasing music independently in 2020, debuting with her digital single “Furaimi” in November of that year. Since then, she has steadily built a fan base by sharing a series of original songs primarily on YouTube and music streaming platforms. Her rising prominence in the Japanese indie music scene was officially recognized in 2022 when she was selected for Spotify Japan’s “RADAR: Early Noise 2022” program, highlighting her as a promising new talent.

With You and the Rain Anime Premiered July 2025

With You and the Rain, the anime adaptation of Ko Nikaido’s charming slice-of-life manga, premiered in Japan on July 5, 2025. The series brings to life the whimsical story of unexpected companionship and quiet moments, brought together by rainy days and shared umbrellas.

Synopsis

According to official streaming platform Crunchyroll, the anime follows a woman named Fuji who, on a rainy day, encounters a peculiar creature standing upright like a dog and holding a sign that says: “Please take me home.” This unlikely meeting with a quirky, umbrella-bearing critter named Kimi transforms their everyday life into a heartwarming adventure filled with laughter, friendship, and the slow passage of time. The story celebrates the gentle beauty of day-to-day living through seasonal changes and emotional growth.

Animation Studio and Key Staff

With You and the Rain is produced by the animation studio Studio Gokumi, known for titles such as A Channel and Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note. The anime is directed by Tomomi Kamiya, with Yuki Yamada handling series composition. Character design is led by Haruka Watanabe, who also serves as chief animation director. The series maintains a delicate, atmospheric tone that mirrors the manga’s serene pacing and expressive art style.

Voice Cast

The main characters are brought to life by a talented voice cast that includes:

  • Saori Hayami as Fuji – A young woman whose quiet life is changed by the arrival of a strange animal on a rainy day.
  • Aoi Yūki as Kimi – A mysterious, adorable creature that may or may not be a dog, who communicates through cue cards and gestures.

Streaming Information

Crunchyroll is currently streaming With You and the Rain for viewers in a wide range of regions, including North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS countries, India, and Southeast Asia. The platform offers both subtitled and dubbed versions, depending on the region, ensuring accessibility for a global audience of anime fans.

Conclusion

With her new single “filled”, Kei Sugawara makes a touching debut in the anime world, offering a song that gracefully reflects the tender emotions of With You and the Rain. As the anime continues its broadcast through the summer 2025 season, both existing fans and new viewers can enjoy its heartfelt storytelling alongside a carefully crafted ending theme that captures the spirit of rainy days and warm companionship.
