Hunter x Hunter Ending Scenarios Shared by Yoshihiro Togashi

hunter x hunter ending revealed

Hunter X Hunter manga creator Yoshihiro Togashi shared a possible ending options for HUNTER x HUNTER during an appearance on TV Asahi’s Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show on November 21, 2023. Togashi had envisioned four potential scenarios to conclude the long-running manga.

Togashi is currently 57 years old and due to ongoing health challenges, he  has faced challenges in maintaining a consistent release schedule for the manga series. In a letter conveyed during the show, Togashi mentioned that he has three possible hunter x hunter endings in mind, with his personal favorite being the one he anticipates fans might dislike the most. The fourth ending, revealed on the program, could be considered if he were to pass away before formally completing the manga.

Hunter x Hunter Possible Ending Scenarios

So, Togashi’s scoop is that the fourth abandoned ending (ending D) happens way into the future, with a time skip and all. Picture this: a girl named Gin, like the beginning of the manga, goes fishing at a pond and snags this enormous fish. Super proud, she shows it off to her mom, declaring she’s done with the whole hunter gig. After this grand proclamation, she leaves her mom with the fish.

Now, the plot thickens as the mother and father start a debate about Gin’s future, with a touch of disappointment because she’s not keen on becoming a hunter like her famous grandpa, Gon. Now, we switch scenes, and Gin spills the beans on why she’s anti-hunter. Turns out, she doesn’t want to be like her grandpa Gon, who was always off on adventures, leaving her grandma Nouko alone at home.

So, she pledges to never abandon her island, vowing to stick by someone’s side forever. Just as this heartfelt moment unfolds, a boy strolls into the room. And there you have it – the last scene of ending D: a bird takes flight into the sky while someone watches.

Togashi, the brain behind all this, was crossing his fingers that he could cook up an ending cool enough to dodge the need for possible endings A, B, or C. He predicted that fans might be lukewarm about A, evenly divided on B, and majorly bummed about C. Even though ending C would likely get a lot of flak from fans, guess what? Togashi secretly had a soft spot for it among the possible endings. Yep, he had a personal preference for the controversial one, C.

It’s a wild ending, right?
