Here’s a special news released about the production of the fourth season of the TV anime Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE, marking the final season based on the original work by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi.
The third season of the TV anime series Dr. STONE NEW WORLD ended with its last episode on December 21st. Director Shuhei Matsushita and producer Shusuke Katagiri have shared news about the decision to create the fourth season. Director Matsushita emphasized that this is the story of Senku and his friends overcoming fiction with the power of science.” Introducing the theme for the final season, he said, “The Future of Science,” expressing his eagerness to portray a hopeful “future” for Senku and his friends. Producer Katagiri mentioned the upcoming 5th anniversary of the anime, expressing happiness about animating the third season and beyond, and continuing to be part of the project. A special report announcing the production of the 4th season has also been released.
Dr. Stone is a survival adventure anime where Senkuu aims to revive all the people turned into statues and bring back two million years of human progress. But there’s a guy named Tsukasa who thinks only the strongest should be brought back. As winter turns to spring, Senkuu and his friends in Ishigami Village get ready to take on the Tsukasa Empire.

Dr. Stone is a Japanese manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. It was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022 and compiled into 26 tankōbon volumes. The story centers on Senku Ishigami, a scientific genius aiming to rebuild civilization after humanity was mysteriously petrified for 3,700 years.
In North America, Viz Media holds the manga license. Shueisha began simultaneous English publication on the Manga Plus website and app in January 2019. An anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment aired from July to December 2019 on Tokyo MX. Two more seasons followed, with the second focusing on the “Stone Wars” arc in early 2021, and the third, centered on the “New World” arc, premiering in April 2023. A TV special titled Dr. Stone: Ryusui aired in July 2022. As of December 2022, the manga had over 15 million copies in circulation. In 2019, Dr. Stone won the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category.
The first season of the anime TV series adaptation of Dr. Stone was announced in November 2018. Season one aired from July to December 2019, followed by a second season titled Dr. Stone: Stone Wars in 2021. After the second season, a third season titled Dr. Stone: New World was announced, with a special called Dr. Stone: Ryusui focusing on a character. The third season is split into two parts, with the first part airing from April to June 2023 and the second part premiering in October 2023. And right now the team behind the TV anime “Dr. STONE” announces the production of its fourth season, which will be the final season! The title is “Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE”!
Crunchyroll streams the series globally, excluding Asia, and Funimation provides a simuldub. Medialink holds the Southeast Asia license, while the English dub airs on Adult Swim’s Toonami. The series has received positive reception and has gained popularity since its debut.
